Light and Blood
In Bamako and in Maputo, the black and white rains of a musical score that remains to be composed are going to disturb the night. Night. We build houses and fabricate fantasy worlds in order to protect ourselves from the darknesses of the unconscious. Founding something is always a marvelous act, beliving that we have founded something is always presumptuous.
Light from a lamp or a light bulb frightens disgruntled spirits, and we struggle until exhaustion to stay awake, to preserve daytime in nighttimes. At night, smiles become whiter so that they can marry the moon. Daylight darkens our bodies, all while rendering them more visible.
The black is infinite, the white traces limits, the gray gives shadows. Entrails are always red. Blood provides the color. It’s often useless. Enclosing blackness in a box creates infinity. Letting light imprisons finitude. The box is magic and will stay so. Will it be possible for us to one day replace the roll of film and become a mere eye attentive to the inversion of reality ? War in peace. Brothers in blood as brothers in black and white.
Human beings will then reveal themselves to the blurry light of a laboratory perfumed with the scents of loved bodies.
