Photographs of North Seas to the African coasts, cod fishery to sharks. Beautiful and terrifying photographs of sea and fishermen by the first French oceanographer woman.
Besides writing, this book reveals a woman photographer, whose eyes are completely geared towards the desire to feel, to understand and to testify by photography to the sources to the life whose sea and its men, sailors, would be the first emblems.
Soft and acute, the eyes are human, intimate, sincere, loving. Photographs full of courage and energy on the deeper meaning of the elements and struggles of those who confront it, without any sensationalism. From North Seas to South Seas, from Barents to Dahomey, from cod to sharks fishing, Anita Conti confronts us with a forgotten reality and gives us new dimension of his talent.
Anita Conti was born in 1899 and died in Fécamp Harbour (France) in 1997.
Writer, photographer, first oceanographer woman, she is one of those exceptional figures who cross the century as passionate and free adventurer. For the "Lady of the Sea", the barriers seem to exist only to be crossed.
