REVUE NOIRE
AND AFRICA

Created in 1990 by Jean Loup Pivin, Simon Njami, Pascal Martin Saint Léon and Bruno Tilliette, thereafter joined by N’Goné Fall, the team REVUE NOIRE showed contemporary artistic creativity of the African continent, at that time absent in the art world.

Revue Noire Magazine, international magazine of contemporary African art (in bilingual French and English, printed copies from 6000 to 8000), has been sold around all the world for ten years from 1991 to 2001. The magazine has published more than 3500 artists from all disciplines (visual arts, photography, literature, dance, music, video, theatre, design, fashion…).

Revue Noire publisher
has published some forty books (monographs, essays, anthologies about photography, art ou literature). The two books « Anthology of African Photography » and « Anthology of African Art, the XXth Century » (also published in English by DAP New York) are among the founding publications of modern and contemporary art and photography in Africa. These were accompanied by numerous exhibitions in major international art institutions, giving African artists an place in major exhibitions such as in collections of major museums and collectors.

The PDF format is available for some publications easily downloadable but requires a broadband connection. Easy integration with your library iPad or other tablets for consultation as a book. PDFs are progressively updated to meet new standards of tablets (for the new PDFs : 300ppi, OCR full text search, bookmarks books on chaptering).

Since 2010 Revue Noire is openning to all the continents, allways researching other perspectives, out of the western art references. To recognize Other.

Revue Noire gallery, open on 250 m2 at 8 rue Cels, shows artists from all disciplines, for art and photography collectors who want to buy an artwork. A new way to art world and art market for emerging worldwide artists. Look at our programm on the web site.
